Le b\u00e2timent existant est caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par une structure \u00e0 trame carr\u00e9e de 8.4 m\u00e8tres de c\u00f4t\u00e9 et par des hauteurs d\u2019\u00e9tage d\u2019environ 5 m\u00e8tres. La structure en b\u00e9ton arm\u00e9 est simple et fonctionnelle. Elle est le point de d\u00e9part pour le d\u00e9veloppement du projet du CAP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au niveau de la rue du Commerce, le projet propose d\u2019accueillir le public par une nouvelle annexe. La structure du b\u00e2timent existant est \u00e9tendue vers le sud. Sa fa\u00e7ade s\u2019ouvre sur l\u2019espace public de la rue du Commerce. Entre la rue et l\u2019entr\u00e9e du CAP, un am\u00e9nagement paysager offre aux habitants des espaces de rencontre et de d\u00e9tente. Au rez-de-chauss\u00e9e de l\u2019extension se trouvent les salles pour les conf\u00e9rences et les s\u00e9minaires ainsi que l\u2019espace d\u2019exposition. Le premier \u00e9tage h\u00e9berge les espaces pour les lecteurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!-- default-view.php -->\n<div\n\tclass=\"ngg-galleryoverview default-view \n\t b\u00e2timent. Les espaces de conservation occupent les quatre trav\u00e9es centrales du b\u00e2timent existant. Pour ce faire, les \u00e9l\u00e9ments perturbateurs des chambres froides sont d\u00e9molies et une s\u00e9rie de nouveaux murs est construite sur les axes de la trame de la structure existante. Les nouveaux murs supportent les tr\u00e8s grandes charges des archives et assurent enti\u00e8rement la stabilit\u00e9 du projet. Ils s\u2019\u00e9tendent sur toute la hauteur du b\u00e2timent et forment quatres espaces principaux de conservation par \u00e9tage. Les deux cages de circulation verticale desservent les salles des archives; une par le c\u00f4t\u00e9 est et l\u2019autre par le c\u00f4t\u00e9 ouest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les espaces de traitement ainsi que les bureaux administratifs se trouvent de part et d&#8217;autre de l\u2019espace de conservation central. Les locaux d\u00e9di\u00e9s aux services communaux se situent \u00e0 l\u2019est ; ceux du Canton et de la R\u00e9publique de Neuch\u00e2tel \u00e0 l\u2019ouest.
